I am an economist specializing in development economics, international trade, and applied policy analysis. My work combines rigorous empirical research with real-world policy engagement, spanning regulatory analysis, economic modeling, and program evaluation.
I have published in international and development economics and edited the Handbook on Trade and Development. Across more than a decade in government and nonprofit institutions and over fifteen years in academia, I have taught at the undergraduate, master’s, Ph.D., executive, and public-sector levels, mentoring students and professionals while leading data-driven research initiatives.
My research and teaching focus on the intersection of development, global markets, and financial systems, with a particular interest in translating analytical rigor into practical policy solutions.
I live in Massachusetts and am originally from Chile. I have taught at Tufts University (The Fletcher School), Boston College, Northeastern University, Brandeis University, Indiana University, and other institutions. I hold a Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from UCLA and a B.A. in Economics and the professional title of Commercial Engineer from the University of Chile.
